NE 25th Avenue and NE 36th Avenue PD&E Studies
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 initiated two Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Studies to evaluate improvements along both NE 25th Avenue from SR 492/ NE 14th Street to NE 35th Street, and NE 36th Avenue from SR 492/ NE 14th Street to NE 35th Street, in the City of Ocala, Marion County. During the PD&E phase, preliminary engineering and environmentally feasible alternatives are developed and evaluated to determine which alternative most effectively addresses the needs associated with the project. The objective of the studies is to provide overall traffic operations improvements along both study corridors. The PD&E studies will evaluate intersection improvements, the potential widening of both corridors from two to four lanes and the feasibility of providing a bridge overpass over the CSX at the railroad crossings for both roadways.
FDOT has embarked on a public involvement program as a part of this PD&E Study. This process is designed to ensure public input in the development of alternatives by actively encouraging and facilitating the participation of the general public, citizen groups, interest groups, elected and appointed officials, environmental resource agencies, and other stakeholders.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Five, will hold a public hearing for the Ocala Roadway PD&E Studies. The hearing will be held on September 8, 2015 at the Ocala Police Department Community Room, 402 South Pine Avenue, Ocala. The public hearing will begin as an open house at 4:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 5:00 p.m., followed by a public comment period. This public hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. The project consists of improving safety, adding capacity and constructing a railroad overpass along both study corridors, NE 25th Avenue and NE 36th Avenue. The need for the proposed improvements is based on a projected increase in vehicular and rail traffic. The draft environmental and engineering reports developed by the department will be available for public review through September 18, 2015 at the Ocala Public Library, located at 2720 East Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala, FL, and are also available for download on the Documents and Publications page of the website.
